Instruction and Assessment Philosophy
Formative assessments:
• are important in the art room to check for the students' understanding frequently. This then guides my instruction, as a teacher, in deciding when the class is ready to move forward or needs to review the content more.
• provides the students with a chance to rework their artwork based on how their point of view and inspiration changes.
• provides students with a chance to review the classroom content often so that they have a chance to remember the information.
Summative assessments:
• are a learning tool for students to assess their artwork by grading themselves.
• provides students with a chance to better understand themselves and their artwork through writing artist statements.
• are an opportunity for students to learn how to give and receive feedback during classroom critiques.
