About Me
"I believe all students can be successful."
My name is Mercedes Slack. I graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in art education. When I decided that I wanted to become a teacher it was because I had always loved school and I really valued the inspiration and connections I made with my teachers. I was especially impacted by my art teachers and the potential they saw in me. I've always wanted to inspire or make a difference in someone's life and I really think I can do this with teaching.
Outside of school I value the time I spend with my family and friends. I also love to play volleyball. I played volleyball all through middle school and high school. During my sophomore year I was lucky enough for my teammates to nominate me as team captain. Now I just play for fun on a summer recreational league. When I have time I try to photograph as well. I find it is important for me to work on my photography and artwork so that I can better work through the creative process with my students.
